We have loved each and every wedding at Oldfield Plantation. Just had to share this gorgeous sunset wedding that took place the weekend after Thanksgiving! Our bride, Janel was radiant in her blush tone wedding gown. Janel & Austin said their wedding vows in a romantic ceremony as the sun set behind them. The backdrop and warm colors that we captured as the sun set were amazing and I loved the blue accents in the wedding party attire. The Oldfield Plantation River Club is a private location for weddings and its always a treat to go there!

On the blog today we have Tasha & Brandon’s beautiful Wedding. Both the bride and groom are from Minnesota and flew into Savannah along with their family and friends to celebrate their intimate destination wedding. The wedding ceremony which was officiated by Reverend Schulte, took place in the Forsyth Garden. Afterwards the ceremony, there was a champagne toast on the balcony of the charming Forsyth Inn, which overlooks Forsyth Park. The couple and their guests had rented the Inn for the wedding. We then took a group portrait and photos of the bride, groom, family and friends at the Forsyth Inn, The Forsyth Park Fountain and we also traveled to Monterey Square. After portraits commenced, the couple and their guests then took a carriage ride throughout historic Savannah before going to their wedding reception. They celebrated with a reception dinner at The Olde Pink House, located in Reynold’s Square.

Ima & Jason live in Atlanta and came to Savannah to wed at The Unitarian Church in Troup Square. Ima got ready at the Westin on Bay St and Jason got ready at The Hamilton-Turner House in Historic Savannah. We did Bridal Portraits for Ima in Lafayette Square and Portraits of Jason in the Hamliton-Turner House which is a local Inn on Lafayette Square that was recently renovated. It is a gorgeous space with vibrant colors and plenty of windows to let in natural light.  The couple then had a first look in Lafayette Square which was where we also decided to do some pre-wedding portraits with their immediate family. Afterwards, the couple walked to their church for their ceremony witnessed by their friends, family and bridal party. After the Ceremony, the couple took more photos with extended family in Troup Square. It was a beautiful day for a wedding in downtown Savannah for this couple who is so much in love. Ima is a make up artist and model in Atlanta where she and Jason live. Jason’s family has a home in Hilton Head, so many came from South Carolina and local areas to attend the wedding. Ima’s family lives in Atlanta and some members of her family even traveled from as far as Persia to attend the wedding weekend in Savannah and their wedding reception at The Westin.

I Love working with the natural light in Forsyth Park.  I really enjoyed my time with Akiko & Rob. The couple came in from Florida and stayed in Hilton Head. When they were planning their vacation, Rob contacted me to discuss his plan to propose to Akiko. I am always honored to be a part of such an important time in someone’s life and Rob’s surprise proposal was perfect!!

Quinney Oaks Plantation in Millen, Georgia was the beautiful venue for the wedding of Elizabeth and Mark. The plantation itself is not very far from Savannah and is situated on a sprawling hillside, surrounded by an apple orchard and beautiful gardens. Elizabeth and Mark were an amazing couple to work with and are so perfect together. The entire month of March and April seems to have had so much more rain than usual and this wedding was almost delayed due to the weather. This decisive couple decided to move forward and the weather ended up cooperating. It turned out to be a wonderful day for a Southern Wedding! The outdoor garden ceremony was officiated by a close family friend and part of the ceremony included a bible signing. Afterwards, the couple celebrated their wedding day with over  300 guests. A cocktail hour was then followed by dinner, dancing with a live band and several toasts by family and members of the wedding party. It was truly an honor to meet and to work with this lovely local family from the Savannah-Pooler area!

I had gone to visit Mark for the weekend in Waynesboro, GA and it was a really cold weekend. They had called for snow, but we all thought there was no way that was going to happen in South Georgia. Little did we know that when we woke up the next morning we would wake up to snow covered all over the ground and cars. Mark surprised me by having his brother and sister in law run outside and write “Will you Marry me?” on the back windshield of my car. I was still inside trying to make coffee when Marks brother Chad came running in the house and said OMG Elizabeth a huge tree limb feel on your car and messed it up come outside and look. I was still not even thinking about what was going on…and when I walked outside there wasn’t a limb on top of my car instead there was Mark on one knee next to my car with my ring in one hand and a coffee cup that said Future Mrs. Smith on it. IT was a magical day that I will never forget.

What were the deciding factors for you Ceremony and reception location? I had never wanted to get married in a church and had always wanted an outside wedding.

Where did you get the inspiration/ideas for the details? I knew I did not want a white dress…I wanted an ivory dress. My dress actually is a Merlot color (according to the tag) I loved my dress. I purchased it from J ’adore Bridal in Brooklet, GA. I had seen on Pinterest a board of pinks and greens and feel in love with the color scheme so I decided to use that.Mr. Bill Lively is a close family friend of Mark’s family and we thought it was perfect asking him to marry us since he has seen mine and Marks relationship grow.

What made you select Quinney Oaks Plantation as your Venue? Quinney Oaks is actually owned by a friend of Mark’s from when he was growing up. Coincidentally, the owner is also a sorority sister of mine. She had advertised her parents home on Facebook and I fell in love with the plantation home and venue immediately. Mark had already been to the house several times growing up and loved it as well. It is also close Waynesboro, GA,  where Mark and I will be calling home.

Any advice to other couples who are in the process of planning their wedding? ALWAYS have a plan B if it calls for RAIN!!!
