It rained the day before Giselle & Matt’s Session and it was supposed to rain the entire day of their portrait session. On the morning of the session,  we agreed to chance it and met anyways because Giselle was scheduled to fly back home to Chicago the next day. Sometimes the weather isn’t perfect and may not cooperate the the day of a session but I don’t mind  a bit of rain as long as my clients are comfortable with it. I’m so happy they were, because the rain was very minor and I just love how the photos turned out for this session! The couple was just happy to enjoy the day together, rain or shine.  I know these photos will be a wonderful reminder of time well spent in Savannah.

About Us: Matt is from a small town: Towanda, Pennsylvania. I grew up on right outside of Chicago; in Cicero, Illinois. We met through a dating website. Two different sites somehow connected us. We started emailing back and forth and before my trip to London, we exchanged numbers and began talking. We had a few Skype dates before officially meeting 4 months after connecting online. While home on leave, Matt and I took a trip up to Pennsylvania to visit his family. We both love going to wine tastings! So we decided to go to the wineries on Seneca Lake…while there we noticed that a lot of the wineries had restricted access. This didn’t bother me, but it bothered Matt because he had planned to propose in an area that was marked restricted. We finished up our trip and headed back to Chicago. A few days later it was Christmas morning. As we exchanged gifts, he handed me a small box. I opened it and there was the prettiest diamond ring sitting inside. Shocked, I looked over at him and he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him (of course I said Yes!). I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal! If you would have asked me a few years ago what I would have pictured as far as being engaged, I would not have said living in two separate states! With Matt being active military in Georgia and me having my teaching career in Chicago, we rely on technology to keep in contact. We only get to see each other twice a year, which makes those times extra special to us. Not being able to see him on a daily basis is extremely hard. We miss each other a great deal… which makes us love each other that much more. His recent deployment made me realize just how lucky I am to have found such an amazing, caring, and protective man.

How did you select Wormsloe as a location for your engagement session? We both chose Wormsloe because it seemed like it would be a nice quiet place. Neither of us like big crowds! We also saw pictures and loved the tree lined street and how the trees seemed to provide a sense of privacy and secrecy… Since Matt left for his deployment a few weeks after we were engaged, we were not able to have engagement pictures taken. Matt and I decided that since I had a week off for Spring Break, I should spend it in Georgia. I had the idea to have pictures taken while I was there. We were hoping for clear weather… of course that meant pouring rain. I was really nervous that our session would have to be cancelled! Luckily, Nikki suggested we try and we gladly agreed! The rain held off long enough to get our session done and I really think the overall weather was a reflection of what we have been through as a couple. To us, the overall weather was perfect… not too sunny and not too cloudy!

I met with Lisa and Albert at The Savannah Botanical Gardens. Albert is in the military and Lisa was visiting from California and getting ready to leave the following day. They were looking for a place to have portraits that was scenic,  yet private with a lot of nature surrounding them. Their happiness was contagious! They are so in love and full of smiles, I was thankful for my time with them!   Savannah Engagement Proposals Photographer -002Candid Wedding and Engagement Photography Savannah ElopementEngagement Wedding Photographer Elope Savannah GACandid Fine Art Engagement Wedding Photography Savannah -001Artisitc Fine Art Savannah Engagement Photographer SACGC Botanical Gardens -001Natural Light Fine Art Photographer Savannah Wedding Engagement Photographer-001Engagement Wedding Elope Photographer Savannah GA-001Engagement Photos Savannah GASACGC GARDEN Savannah GA Elopement Engagement Wedding Photographer
We originally met in the 8th grade, I asked Lisa out to a school dance and we dated for about  5 months. We got back together about two years ago after Lisa messaged me over Facebook, after 5 years of living separate lives and having no contact. During that time, we had no other relationships, we are both really shy people. In addition, we are each other’s first and only love, firs kiss, and a bunch of, other things! We texted and talked over Facebook everyday, using up all our free time to do so, 12+ hours sometimes, and we slowly fell in love. After 7 months, we finally decided to meet in person in our hometown of Cerritos on Christmas Day 2012. I drove six hours from my parents home to see he again. We spent almost two months together there, then she flew out to Fort Stewart for a month, and we fell even more in love. I have been stationed at Fort Stewart for over 2 years. The distance is difficult, but we both Skype, every day, using up all of our free time to do so. We still do go out to do errands or spend time with family/friends, albeit not a lot, as we’d rather spend time with each other! We’re pretty attached! I fly her to GA frequently and we spend as many holidays as we can together. The hardest part of our relationship was in 2013, when I was deployed for 8 months in Afghanistan. We stayed strong, and talked over Skype as much as possible. This January, I proposed to Lisa at the beach at Saint Augustine, Florida as the sun was setting. She loves the beach, and it and the sky were beautiful that day, but not as beautiful as her! Our wedding will take place in late June, 2014 at a hotel right next to California’s Disneyland. We  like the Savannah Botanical Gardens because of its natural setting, and all the flowers. I think Savannah is a nice quaint town, and appreciate the fact that its not as crowded as Southern California. Also, the people are nicer. We will be living at Fort Stewart for at least half a year before we do move back to California. Once my time in the Army is up, we are going back home. When I think about it, our relationship seems like dream come true. I love Lisa so much, and I’m so glad she stalked my Facebook for months before she finally messaged me after all those years. I can’t wait to start the adventure of marriage. We’ll be together, Always and Forever. ((:

We met Robbi and Sean and began with getting ready photos at the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel. After a quick first look we took family portraits inside the chapel followed by  candid wedding party photos outdoors. Robbi and Sean were one of the first weddings to host their reception in the chapel’s new main ball room which is beautiful and versatile. Robbi and Sean were so fun to work with as individuals and were radiant when we photographed them together! We enjoyed every aspect of their event and just loved being involved in their wedding day. Congratulations to this perfect couple!

About us: We were introduced by  a mutual friend Ann Marie (she was one of our bridesmaids) at a sporting event. Sean and I became friends very quickly. Robbi is originally from Savannah, GA, but raised in Virginia for many years. Sean was raised in Budd Lake, NJ, and came to Savannah to attend Savannah College of Art and Design. We currently live on Wilmington Island. Sean works as a project director for Gonzalez Architects and he’s also works at Creative Catering. Robbi works for Qualified Plans, which is a Third Party Administrator (TPA) firm in Thunderbolt. Our favorite activities together are watching Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears games, watching movies, playing golf, darts, cooking and  playing with our dog, Aedan.

How did you select Tybee Wedding Chapel as your Ceremony and Reception location? You were one of the first couples to have a wedding at their  newly renovated reception location. We began by narrowing our choices down to 2 options. Our  final deciding factors were based on convenience for guests, rental of extra equipment and the size of the venue. The Tybee Wedding Chapel was the best fit for us as a couple all of the details worked perfectly with our wedding plans.

What are some of your favorite local places that you recommend to others? Ele’ Restaurant, The Crab Shack, Huey’s, Henry’s Downtown, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Vinnie Van Gogo’s, Screamin’ Mimi’s

Where did you get the inspiration/ideas for the details? Our idea to use red accents came from Bride’s Magazine. For our wedding cake, we came across a photo of a wedding in North Carolina that had red accents. Our local bakery was able to re-create it for our wedding day. We immediately  knew we really wanted to use Creative Catering for our Wedding Reception. Sean has worked for the company for several years , since age 19, when he first moved to Savannah to attend college at SCAD.

Do you have any advice to other couples who are in the process of planning their wedding? Do not stress about the little things! The day will happen whether or not everything is perfect according to the original plans. My matron of honor  and sister,Rebecca was enormously helpful and supportive.

I met with Marie, Dave and their adorable daughters at Wormsloe Plantation for an early morning session. The family is from Michigan and was vacationing in the area, spending time in Bluffton visiting family.  I really enjoyed photographing this sweet family!Wormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GA -007Wormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GA -005Wormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GA -004Wormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GA -006Wormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GA -003VanderWerp FMLY-126Wormslo Family PortraitsWormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GAWormsloe Family Portraits Photographer Children Fine Art Savannah GA -009We first fell in love with the charm and beauty of the Low Country when my husband, Dave, and I visited Charleston for our anniversary in May 2010.  We reside in a historic suburb of Detroit, Michigan but love to travel and experience different landscapes, architecture, and cultures.  We have since been back annually to the Bluffton, SC/Savannah, GA area to visit my parents, who bought a residence in the area to escape the brutal Michigan winters.  After seeing photographs online, we thought that the canopied road into Wormsloe Plantation would be a unique background for our family photos.  Perhaps family photographs taken with a backdrop of trees dripping with spanish moss are not unique to people in the South, but they will definitely be striking in our Michigan home.   When we are South, we love to try out different restaurants and enjoy southern cuisine.  The Bluffton BBQ is a must – the sweet potato casserole might as well be dessert!  We enjoy strolling around different towns and neighborhoods to soak in the beautiful old homes and landscape…A favorite this year was taking a historical horse and carriage tour in Beaufort, SC.  I highly recommend visiting the Bonaventure cemetery in Savannah.  Sounds weird to recommend a cemetery but it was very beautiful and peaceful as well as a historical experience.  I was overcome with sadness for the families who lost so many children so young and am very thankful for modern medicine!  When we visited Charleston, touring some of the homes was also a highlight. This winter has been especially harsh in Michigan so just being in the sunshine and feeling the warm sun on our skin was a treat.  The girls love love love playing in the sand so hitting up the beach on Hilton Head is always a must. On this trip, we also made our way to Florida for a couple of days to visit Disney World and go on a swamp tour.  The swamp tour was a great time.  The highlight was a gigantic 14 foot alligator.  With an estimated 7,000 alligators in the swamp, let’s just say I’m thankful that the boat didn’t sink:) Disney was memorable with the girls getting to hug and talk to their current obsession, Mickey Mouse.

April and Jason had an intimate wedding ceremony at The Kehoe House, located on Columbia Square in the Historic District of Savannah. When I was speaking with Jason and his mother before the ceremony, I was quite amazed to find out that Jason is an accomplished nature photographer. (J.Litton Nature Photography)  The couple resides in Florida and even though they travel often for photography, they enjoy frequent trips to Savannah.  Considering all of the places they’ve traveled, it is really quite and honor to have them choose our little city for their destination wedding! They could not have chosen a better time for their day—EVERY tree and Azalea in Columbia Square was in full bloom and the sky was the most vibrant shade of blue; as if Nature was celebrating their wedding day. The couple spent the rest of the week enjoying Savannah and then has plans to honeymoon in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park. I enjoyed spending time with this couple and their family and being involved in this lovely wedding!
