Niki & Jon’s Wedding in Pulaski Square

Niki & Jon had a beautiful Spring Wedding in Pulaski Square. Wedding day coverage began over at The Ogelthorpe Lodge on Bay Street. The group rented the entire three story building and courtyard for their wedding party and guests also stayed at the adjacent hotel. We began with getting ready photos of the group then walked over to Reynold’s Square where the couple had a first look and spent a few moments alone taking photos before their ceremony. The wedding party had portraits and then took Ogelthorpe Trolleys over to Pulaski Square. Once again, it had been raining the day before but it ended up being the most perfect day for a wedding and everything was spectacular.  After the ceremony, we did family photos and bridal portraits in Pulaski Square then the entire group, including wedding guests then boarded the trolleys to go to the reception at Vic’s on The River.  Before entering the Reception, the wedding party  had additional photos on Factor’s walk. Once at Vic’s on The River, the night was kicked off with a Cocktail hour followed by  appetizers, dinner and dancing. After dinner, guests enjoyed The Blush Photo Booth, an ice cream bar from Leopold’s, line dancing lessons and a candy buffet. The night ended with a sparkler send off on Factor’s Walk.

Their Story: Jon and are high school sweethearts! We currently live in Fayetteville, NC. We both grew up in Hollywood, FL. Jon is an Airborne Infantry Sniper for the United States Army and I’m an Emergency Room Nurse. Jon has been in the Army for over three years. He has never been stationed in Savannah, but I always have my fingers crossed!  I fell in love with Savannah the first time we visited. It is just so beautiful! We chose Pulaski Square because I had always envisioned our wedding under giant oak trees, Pulaski square is filled with magnificent trees and surrounded by historic homes.

What do you like most about Savannah? Aside from the beauty of it, we love that you can walk around with a drink in your hand! Vic’s on the River is definitely my favorite place to eat. We love Moon River Brewing Co. and Churchill’s Pub as well.
Details & Inspiration:  Honestly, the majority of my inspiration came from Pinterest! I found a picture of a beautiful green and purple bouquet on Pinterest and used it for my color scheme. I even sent the photo to the florist and asked him to make my bridal bouquet identical to the photo. The burlap and lace was my idea 🙂 I thought it was a great way to combine country and classy. As for the cowboy boots, my parents got married in cowboy boots and I always knew I would!  The style of the  guys outfits were also a Pinterest inspiration. The signs were all made by my Aunt Lori, she is so unbelievably talented!
What made you want to have ice cream, the photo booth and line dancing as entertainment for your guests? My focus for this wedding was to make it a night nobody would forget. I knew the photo booth would be a hit! Regarding the ice cream, I feel a lot of cake gets wasted at weddings because people tend to be very picky abut what kind of cake they like…but everyone likes ice cream! We chose various flavors and toppings for the guests to choose from. I think the guests loved every flavor because we ran out of ice cream!  The Line dance instructor was sort of a last minute idea and it was a great one!
Any planning obstacles with this being a destination wedding? A few older family members were unable to make the long trip to the wedding but other than that we didn’t run into many obstacles. Everyone that we worked with in Savannah was so helpful!
Approximate planning time for wedding: A long time! About 18 months from start to finish.
